Hawaii Women's Legal Foundation (formerly the Hawaii Women Lawyers Foundation) is a nonprofit organization focusing on women's issues and solutions that empower women in Hawai'i. Our mission is to support projects that benefit women and children in the exercise of their legal rights, and to empower women in the legal profession. Click here for more of our history. HWLF holds an annual benefit dinner in the fall. The 2006 fall fundraiser will be held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resory and Spa on October 14. This year's theme is "Can We Dance?" Our Honorary Co-Chairs are Allen Landon, Chairman and CEO of Bank of Hawaii, and Janice Head, President, Hawaii Region, Kaiser Permanente. HWLF awards the fundraiser proceeds as grants to entities that support the legal rights of women and children. Click here for a grant application.

Our recent spring fundraiser, the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, was held on May 7, 2006, at Poli Hiwahiwa, the historic home of Beadie Dawson.The Rhoda Lewis award, named in honor of the first female justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court, was given to Jennifer Rose of the Domestic Violence Clearinghouse and Legal Hotline. |
