Hawai’i 5-OH!

Honolulu’s people of action, decked out in elegant Hawaiian attire, joined us for one of Hawai’i’s most talked-about charitable events, the Hawaii Women’s Legal Foundation’s (HWLF) 21^st annual fundraiser on Saturday, September 17, 2011, 5:30 p.m. at the Tapa Ballroom of the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Inspired by the cool glamour of Hawai’i’s premier crime fighters, the theme of the 2011 program was Hawai’i 5-OH! Attendees watched our talented cast of lawyers, politicians, and business leaders fight crime Hawaiian style, like you’ve never seen before. No fiendish mastermind could outwit our 5-0H Team as they punched, kicked, sang, and shimmied to protect the good citizens of Honolulu! The evening also featured an extra one-two punch with our esteemed, honorary co-chairs, University of Hawai’i at Manoa’s SEED Program Director Dr. Amy Agbayani and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Global Wealth Management Senior VP Mike Strada.

One hundred percent of the event’s net proceeds were used to fulfill the mission of HWLF to help Hawai’i’s women and children in need improve their lives and to promote the advancement of qualified women in the legal profession. HWLF, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization formed in 1982, provides grants to various nonprofit organizations that have demonstrated a long-term commitment to educating, protecting, and empowering the women and children of Hawaii. These grants have a significant, positive impact on our community and are especially important during these difficult economic times.

Participants pursued many opportunities to help make a difference in the lives of Hawai’i’s women and children. Sponsors purchased “McGarrett,” “Danno,” and “Chino Ho & Kono” tables and individual seats. Donors donated monetary gifts and wonderful silent auction items (some of which are featured below)
